At 8,4% the inflation for the year, at 7,9% in December

Inflation for the period January-December 2022 recorded an increase of 8,4% compared to the corresponding period last year, according to data published on Thursday by the Statistical Service. For December, inflation was limited to 7,9%.

For the period January – December 2022 compared to the corresponding period last year, the biggest changes were presented in the categories Housing, Water Supply, Electricity and LPG, with an increase of 21% and Transportation with 16,3%.

Inflation fell to 7,9% in December, while the Consumer Price Index 2022 decreased by 1,12 points and reached 113,43 points compared to 114,55 points in November 2022.

Compared to December 2021, the biggest changes were seen in the Housing, Water, Electricity and LPG categories, which increased by 17,1% and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages by 12,6%.

The categories Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages, with an effect of 2022 units, Housing, Water Supply, Electricity and LPG, with 2021 units and Transport with 2,41. In addition, the biggest impact on the change in the December 2,32 CPI compared to the December 1,51 index was Electricity, with 2022 units and Petroleum Products with 2021.

Compared to November 2022, in December the biggest changes were observed in Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages, which decreased by 2,9% and in Transportation, which decreased by 2,3%.

The categories Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages had the biggest negative impact on the CPI change compared to the previous month, by 0,65 points and Transportation by 0,42 points.

Oil products and fresh vegetables had the biggest negative impact on the change in the December 2022 CPI compared to the corresponding index of the previous month, with 0,57 and 0,56 points respectively.
