Cyprus recorded a price level in 2025 corresponding to 89% of the European Union average for household final consumption expenditure, according to data published on Thursday by Eurostat.
According to the Agency, price levels between Member States showed significant differences, ranging from 140% of the EU average in Denmark to 63% in Bulgaria. After Denmark, the highest price levels were recorded in Ireland (136%) and Luxembourg (132%), while the lowest were recorded in Romania (65%) and Poland (73%).
Eurostat points out that large differences in the prices of basic goods and services continue to be observed between Member States.
In the food and non-alcoholic beverages category, which presented the smallest variations at EU level, Cyprus was essentially at the Union average, with a price index of 100,1%. The highest price levels in this category were recorded in Luxembourg (122% of the EU average) and the lowest in Romania (80%).
In catering and accommodation services, the price level in Cyprus was 85,2% of the EU average, while in health it reached 94,1%. At the same time, in the sector of housing, water, electricity, natural gas and other fuels, it reached 87%.
Particularly high, compared to the Union average, was the price level in education, which in Cyprus reached 137,5% of the EU average. Eurostat notes that education was the category with the greatest divergences between Member States, with Luxembourg recording the highest price level (334% of the EU average) and Romania the lowest (42%).
