The PASYDY General Nursing Personnel Branch considers the repeated use of violence against Health Professionals to be "unacceptable and condemnable", while condemning "in the most categorical manner" the attack by a hospitalized patient against nurses at the Limassol General Hospital.
In their announcement today, PASYDY nurses state that healthcare workers provide their services with respect and professionalism and have the right to work in a safe environment.
They express their deep concern and disappointment, as "only three twenty-four hours have passed since the attack on Health Professionals at Polis Chrysochous Hospital and the same scene is being repeated."
He calls on the Health Committee of the Parliament to examine as soon as possible the bill proposed by AKEL MP Marina Nikolaou to tighten the penalties when violence is committed against Health Professionals. In addition, he says, he supports any other amendment to the law to tighten the penalties.
"Healthcare professionals must finally feel that they are working in a safe environment and zero tolerance must be shown to those who want to vent their pent-up emotions against hospital workers," concludes the PASYDY General Nursing Personnel Branch.
