The EAC trade unions request the immediate resolution of serious issues that affect the viability and functionality of the Organization, in their letter to the Organization's Board of Directors.
They call on the Board of Directors to take immediate action within seven days, stating that otherwise they do not rule out taking strike action.
The unions are talking about serious issues, which they have already raised with the Board of Directors and which, as they say, are derailing and depriving it of the possibility of fulfilling the EAC's mission, which is the safe, uninterrupted and more economical supply of electricity to consumers, as also their timely and efficient service.
They also point out "the absence of healthy labor relations in the Organization, which makes it difficult to resolve Labor Issues and affects its operation, with the result that its Structures remain incomplete, its Activities are headless and heaps of labor issues remain unresolved". They also note that matters that have been agreed upon are blatantly violated and not implemented.
They speak of the unacceptable interventions of the Ministry of Finance at a time when the Regulated Activities of the EAC are trying to develop their activities and face the challenges of the energy transition.
"We estimate that the decisions of the Electricity Authority remain stagnant due to various objections and obstruction by the Competent Ministry, the Competent Bodies and are referred to the Greek calendars, resulting in the continuous increase in the cost of electricity and the visible risk of the adequacy and security of the supply of the place ", refers.
The unions request actions for the immediate implementation of the existing agreements and the resolution of the multitude of labor issues that are before the Board.
They also request a written update from the Ministry of Energy of the decision of the Board of Directors of EAC, CERA, and also of the Ministry itself for the installation of new conventional units at the Decelia Power Plant.
They are also calling for the completion of the approval process by CERA for a storage facility at Dekelia S/S, in accordance with the decision of the EAC Board of Directors.
They also request immediate action to approve the installation of central storage systems in the Grids, which will bring cost reduction to the citizen and flexibility in the electrical system, supporting the Ministry's renewable energy programs, especially the photovoltaics for all program.
They also call for the immediate removal of all obstacles so that EAC Production can invest in RES and/or purchase energy from RES and/or purchase existing licensed RES projects.
The trade unions also talk about positions and unethical interventions of the Vice-President of CERA, with the tolerance of the President of CERA, both towards the AEC and towards Competent State Bodies, which are not appropriate for the institution for which he was appointed to serve and cannot to be treated with apathy.
They also add that the only issues that are discussed and see the light of day, are the arrival of Natural Gas and the Electricity Interconnection of Cyprus with neighboring States, while the substance has been left, which is the adequacy and cost of the electricity for which they are needed immediate actions.
At the same time, they state that any interconnection has nothing to do with and is not an extension of the State Network infrastructure, but concerns private investments that the Cypriot consumer will be asked to prepay with a fee, increasing the price of electricity directly, without any indication of the benefits in depth time for the consumer.
