The 24-hour strike of hourly staff in public hospitals, which had been announced for July 23 by the unions PASYEK-PEO and OEKDY-SEK, following the written positions they received from OKypY, is suspended.

As the unions reported to the Cyprus News Agency, OKYPY agrees to end the hiring of seasonal hourly workers and undertakes that for its additional permanent needs arising either due to building extensions or for other works, there will be staffing with permanent hourly staff.

In addition, the Organization agrees that it will limit its policy to purchasing services only in specialized cases and for work performed by hourly staff it will not enter into such cooperation contracts.

The decision of the trade unions to suspend the strike measures will be submitted to a General Assembly of the workers, for ratification of the decision.
