The decision to suspend its mobilizations was made by the EDC of the POED regarding the new teacher evaluation system, which was scheduled for Wednesday, November 26.
As stated in the announcement, POED once again condemns the failure of the Minister of Education and Science to get an agreed plan to Parliament, as well as the circumvention of the institutional dialogue.
"At the same time, we condemn statements and targeted attacks, which harm the prestige of the profession," he continues.
"In view of the latest developments, the EDC of the POED, as a sign of goodwill, unanimously decided to suspend the strike of Wednesday, November 26th and announce that it will take place on the day when the Plenary Session of the Parliament will convene, which has not yet been determined, in case the final legislation that will be promoted to the plenary session deviates from the basic positions of the POED."
"Through the procedure decided by the Parliament's Education Committee (taking on the role that the Ministry of Education should have performed), it is necessary to maintain the points agreed with the Ministry of Education, to improve the bill (e.g. non-numerical evaluation by the principal) and to provide a specific plan for implementing the financial aspect of the legislation," he concludes.
