Vindication will only come with the punishment of the guilty, Thanasis Nikolaos' mother, Andriana, told CNA, who is waiting to be handed the findings of independent criminal investigators Lambros Pappas and Thanasis Athanasiou, reiterating her readiness to proceed with private criminal prosecutions.
As Andriana Nikolaou reported, after her public statement that she did not wish to receive the findings from the Attorney General, the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, contacted her by phone, who explained to her that this is provided for by the Constitution, as well as the decision of the Council of Ministers to deliver a copy of the findings to her.
She herself, however, states that she does not expect anything from the Legal Service, since as she stated, "those who fought us in court will study it" and emphasized that, since the findings attribute responsibility to specific individuals, "we will definitely pursue private criminal prosecutions, even against individuals who may not be included in it."
"My child cannot have suffered from bullying by some and been murdered because he saw them with drugs in the army, and they go unpunished," he added.
Asked whether she feels vindicated by the criminal investigators' findings, which allegedly confirm the criminal act, she stated that "I do not feel vindicated, but I feel a moral satisfaction that I managed - and I praise God - to restore the memory of my son, whose name was tarnished with the stigma of suicide."
"Victory will only come through the punishment of the guilty," concluded Andriana Nikolaou in her statement.
