The Cyprus Urban Taxi Union POAT is going on a 24-hour strike, starting at 6:00 am, with taxi drivers at Larnaca Airport having gathered in the parking lot since the morning.
In statements to CNA, the President of the Larnaca District Committee (LDC), Konstantinos Magdalinidis, said that after the four-hour work stoppage last week, "all scope for dialogue" was exhausted.
"Unfortunately, there was no response even to our obvious request, which concerns legality," said Mr. Magdalinidis, while mentioning that today's 24-hour work stoppage "signals the beginning of our mobilizations."
"We are moving forward with a 24-hour strike, which now has pan-Cypriot dimensions," he added, adding that "we are not taking even half a step back."
"We demand exclusively legality and justice. Nothing more, nothing less," he concluded.
