The court decided to return the skeletal remains and the hyoid bone plates of Thanasis Nikolaou to the family.
The procedure was completed shortly after one o'clock in the afternoon, in a tense atmosphere, as it was preceded by a statement from the lawyer of the forensic pathologist Panikos Stavrianou to postpone the procedure, in view of her client's intention to reopen the death investigation.
However, the judge read her decision, which issued an order for the return of the skeletal remains and the 350 plates, within seven days, as the coroner no longer has any authority over the bones of Thanasis Nikolaos.
