A doctor from the Greek National Health Insurance (OKYpY) was fired after allegedly asking for money from relatives of a patient when he traveled to Athens for specialized surgery.

Regarding the complaint about bribery of a doctor of the OKYpY, the Organization wishes to inform the following: Following a complaint received from the Ministry of Health and forwarded to the OKYpY, the matter was immediately referred to the Disciplinary Council and the Board of Directors, where, after a legal opinion, it was decided that as of today, 27.01.2025, the services of the doctor in question will be terminated immediately.
It is noted that, in the letter that the Organization received from the Ministry of Health regarding this specific complaint, it is mentioned that the case in question was referred to the Assistant Attorney General of the Republic for investigation of any criminal offenses.
