On Tuesday evening, the Turkish Cypriot unions active in the education sector (Turkish Cypriot Teachers' Union KTÖS, Turkish Cypriot Secondary Education Union KTOEÖS), in collaboration with approximately 40 civil society organizations, will hold a protest on the headscarf issue in various parts of the occupied territories.
According to information from the Turkish Cypriot electronic press, in occupied Nicosia the mobilization will begin at 18.00:XNUMX PM, with trade unionists demonstrating with banners and slogans in favor of the secular regime.
Rallies and marches have also been planned in Kyrenia, Morphou and Famagusta.
The organizers emphasize that these events aim to reject any attempt to intervene in secular education and to protect social values, with a focus on the cultural and educational character of the place.
Today's Turkish Cypriot press writes that under pressure from Ankara, the "government" paved the way for the free use of the headscarf in secondary education.
