The Police recommend the public to be especially careful, in relation to online fraud, through which the perpetrators intend to steal sums of money from citizens, inviting them to invest in investment activities, in which well-known famous persons allegedly participate.
As has been established by the Cybercrime Sub-Directorate of the Police Headquarters, the perpetrators create and publish on social media, false videos, in which various famous persons are presented, inviting the public to participate in various investment activities.
These videos constitute an attempt to deceive the citizens. The purpose of the fraudsters is to extract sums of money from citizens, through the false investment activities, which are advertised through the videos in question. The Police advise the public to avoid any communication or transaction, which may be advertised through these videos.
It is recommended for citizens who wish to engage in investment plans and activities as they do so through legitimate, registered and licensed financial institutions or advisers.
