Violation of basic rules of the Highway Code continues to be the main cause of loss of human lives on the road network, a Police statement says.
He continues by emphasizing that "from the beginning of the year until April 30, 2025, twelve of our fellow citizens lost their lives in an equal number of fatal road collisions, the main cause being careless driving and distraction."
Of the twelve of our fellow citizens who lost their lives, four were motorcycle riders, one was a moped rider and one was a bicycle rider, three were car drivers and another three were pedestrians.
Two of the three drivers who lost their lives in a road collision were not wearing a seat belt.
The Police, addresses a warm appeal to all drivers and road users, to show due attention and responsibility to the rules of the road. At the same time, efforts to prevent road collisions and policing the road network continue intensively. Every loss of human life on the roads leaves dreams unfulfilled and plunges families into mourning who mourn the loss of their own people.
