Decision for an aid measure for projects to upgrade hotels and tourist accommodation in rural, mountainous and remote areas, with a total budget of €3 million. issued by the Superintendent of State Aid Control, Stella Michailidou, on December 6. The competent authority for the implementation and implementation of the measure is the Deputy Ministry of Tourism.
The measure entitled "Sponsorship Scheme for Upgrading Hotels and Tourist Accommodation Projects in Rural, Mountainous and Remote Areas to Modernize and Improve the Competitiveness of the Tourism Product - 2nd Announcement" aims to support investments in Hotel and Tourist Accommodation businesses, with eligible costs the digital upgrade of the business, the renovation, upgrade, enrichment, beautification, replacement of equipment and the energy upgrade of the existing internal and external spaces in the hotels or tourist accommodations under investment. In addition, it concerns the creation of new, properly equipped spaces, infrastructures and services related to the enrichment of the offered products and services of the hotel business with the aim of improving the competitiveness of the unit and the conversion of tourist accommodations into hotels.
According to a statement from the Office of the Treasurer, the measure will be applied in mountainous, arid and remote areas, in rural areas and in areas facing tourist disadvantages.
The period of application of the measure will be the year 2025-2026, with a final date of execution and completion of the projects on April 30, 2026.
Decision number 464 has been posted on the website of the Office of the Superintendent of State Aid Control. The measure in question was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic, dated December 13, 2024.
