Strong criticism of the Christodoulidis Government, for "following the same policy as the previous one, showing zero sensitivity to the pensioners and the problems they face" was made by the members of the Local Committees of the EKYSY of the Idali region in the context of a regional meeting of EKYSY executives held on September 18 at the "Olympiad" House of Lymium.

According to an announcement by EKYSY, during the meeting it was denounced "the fact that punctuality continues to dramatically degrade the standard of living of pensioners and to beat them mercilessly and they stressed that the 12% penalty imposed on the pensions of those who retire at the age of 63 must finally be abolished of their age, after many years of work". At the same time, it is added, the pensioners demanded a solution to the problem arising from the burden they have from the cost of the medicines they must take and which are not covered by the NHS.

With regard to the other problems that need immediate resolution, the representatives of EKYSY emphasized that the legislation on the widow's pension of all widows must be improved and made fairer so as not to violate the principle of equality and article 28 of the constitution.

The meeting, after a briefing by the General Secretary of the Greek Greek Orthodox Church, Kostas Skarparis, also dealt with the planning and participation of pensioners in the Pan-Cypriot Conference and the protest event planned by Greek Greek Orthodox Church outside the Ministry of Finance on Thursday, October 3, 2024.
