Reinforcement of the security of its members, as well as amendments to laws and regulations for the stay of Contracted Special Police Officers in the corps, is requested in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Branch of the "Equality" Syndicate.
As initially reported, the injury of police officers in a pursuit in the province of Larnaca last night "confirms the dangerousness of the profession once again, but shows the zeal and professionalism of the members of the Police".
"Every day they are faced with the dangers of delinquency and lawlessness. The support from their union, but at the same time the quick and valid reorganization of the Police will bring a stronger First Line of the Security Forces, better equipment and more positive results in relation to the fight against crime and ensuring the safety of our colleagues" , is noted.
It is added that with "the highest degree of risk, but also an empathy of responsibility, the Police every day, Pan-Cypriot in all departments, keep the safety of the Republic of Cyprus, even though they are still uninsured in the years 2024".
In relation to the Contracted Special Police Officers, the Syntechnia reminds that for a year now it has been emphasizing the only solution for them to remain in the Police, just like the status of SYOP in the National Guard.
