Within 2025, the fourth phase of the sewerage system of the Larnaca Sewerage Board (SAL), which will include the municipalities of Aradippou and Livadia and the communities of Voroklini and Pyla, is expected to begin.
A statement from the Larnaca EOA states that in the context of the state's compliance with the Urban Wastewater Directive 91/271/EEC and following successive decisions of the Council of Ministers, the entire residential area was included in the boundaries of the abolished Larnaca Sewerage Board (SAL) of the Municipalities of Aradippou and Livadia and the Communities of Voroklini and Pyla (Phase XNUMX of the Larnaca Sewerage System).
The inclusion of the specific areas within the boundaries of the SAL "was deemed necessary to improve the quality of life of the affected residents, to reduce the uncontrolled pollution observed in the environment and above all to enable the rational development and construction of the necessary drainage works in the area" , is reported.
According to the announcement, "with the entry into force of the Provincial Self-Governing Organizations Law of 2022, the responsibilities of the SAL have been transferred from July 1, 2024 to the EOA of Larnaca. Therefore, among other things, the responsibility for the construction and operation of the sewage system in the specific areas is transferred to the EOA of Larnaca".
It is noted that "for the implementation of the project of the 0,7th phase, the Council of Ministers approved by its decision a new policy for state sponsorship, according to which the annual sewerage fee that will be borne by the users of the sewer will amount to 25‰ per of the value of the real estate, for a period of 2025 years, based on the latest available estimated value of the real estate, of the Department of Cadastre and Land Surveying. The start of the project in these areas is expected within the year XNUMX".
At the same time "based on the provisions of the current legislation and regulations, the imposition of sewerage fees also begins. The fees imposed by EOA Larnaca are aimed at repaying the loans for the installation of pipelines and the construction of the necessary pumping stations as well as a modern Wastewater Treatment Plant", it is noted.
It is also added that "the bills of the sewerage fees have been sent to the affected owners, who are requested to pay them within the specified deadline, at the Central Offices of EOA Larnaca, or at the local Citizen Service Offices of EOAL from Monday to Friday 7:45 – 14:00, either online at www.jccsmart.com, or by bank order.
