A restart for the ready-mixed concrete sector following the latest developments and the decision by the majority of employers to sign the sectoral agreement with workers.
In statements to the KYPE, the General Secretary of the Builders, Mechanics' Union of PEO, Michalis Papanikolaou, said that the majority of the workers signed and returned to work.
Mr. Papanikolaou said that out of the total of 560 workers throughout Cyprus, 480 have signed in total. These workers belong to 25 of the 35 employers, while the remaining 80 workers were those who continued to work during the strike.
So, said Mr. Papanikolaou, "now the whole industry is working".
The General Secretary of OOIMSEK-SEK, Stelios Tsiapoutis, in statements to the KYPE, confirmed that almost 100% of the organized companies have signed the contract and a percentage close to 90% of the workers have returned to their jobs.
Mr. Tsiapoutis said that they have now organized in companies that were unorganized until now, while an effort is being made, possibly within the day and with some workers with smaller employers, to organize them as well.
