A meeting of all the investigative teams examining the case of the Monastery of St. Avvakum will take place next week at the Legal Service, in order to provide information on the progress of the case, the General Prosecutor, Giorgos Savvidis, said on Tuesday at KYPE, on the sidelines of the ceremony presentation of the newly registered lawyers held at the Supreme Court in Nicosia.
As Mr. Savvidis mentioned, he was informed that a suspect has been brought to court for the purpose of issuing a detention order.
"Next week there will be a meeting of all the investigative teams looking at all aspects of the case to see exactly how they are progressing and how close they are to completing the case," he added.
In response to a question as to whether there may be new evidence in the context of the meeting, the Attorney General said that new evidence emerges from the investigations, adding that the meeting in question will be held for the purpose of informing the Legal Service and providing guidance, to the extent necessary, for the Further actions.
Case C. Auditor
Also asked if there was any development regarding the proposal of the advocates of the Auditor General, Odysseus Michaelidis, to settle the case concerning Mr. Michaelidis' request for suspension, outside the courtroom, Mr. Savvidis said that it is not right to comment on anything for a case pending in court, adding that no out-of-court contact has been made.
"The case is pending, its trial continues and we will wait for the completion of the process," he concluded.
