The Department of Geological Survey of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment in a statement states that on Wednesday 04 September 2024 and local time 00:30 an earthquake of magnitude M = 4.9 on the Richter scale was recorded by the Department's seismological network.
The earthquake had an epicenter in the maritime area of Cyprus, 18 kilometers south-west of Paphos and a focal depth of 13 kilometers. The earthquake was strongly felt in the provinces of Paphos and Limassol and felt in the rest of Cyprus. It was also felt/perceived throughout the eastern Mediterranean.
