The Attorney General of the Republic, Mr. George L. Savvides, decided today, pursuant to the Investigative Committees Law (Chapter 44), to appoint a three-member Investigative Committee to investigate the placing on the Cypriot market of vehicles from the EU, the import of vehicles from third countries, as well as the recall of these vehicles, according to a statement from the Legal Service.
Mr. Michalakis Christodoulou, former Judge of the Supreme Court, is appointed as President of the Committee.
Messrs. Michalis Vorkas, President of the Cyprus Bar Association, and Theodosios Hadjimichael, an executive of the Audit Service, are appointed as Commissioners.
The Attorney General of the Republic and the persons who will form the Investigative Committee had their first meeting earlier today, during which the terms of reference, as they will be included in the Decree of the Attorney General, which will be published in the Official Gazette of the Republic, were explained to them. The President and the Commissioners signed a declaration that they have no direct personal interest in relation to the issues to be investigated.
The appointment ceremony of the Investigative Committee will take place on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 11 a.m., at the Legal Service of the Republic.
