The Bank of Cyprus Oncology Center filed a complaint with the Police for the malicious unauthorized publication of some data that was illegally removed from its systems and at the same time informed the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection and the Digital Security Authority. It is working intensively on the issue with specialized teams of cybersecurity engineers and consultants.
According to a statement from the center, "so far it has been confirmed that the malicious elements behind the malicious attack have unfortunately gained access to personal patient data as well as employee data, for which they are threatening further disclosure in the media and on social media."
The case is being handled by the Center's Directorate in full coordination and in accordance with the instructions of the competent state authorities, while additional measures have been implemented to enhance the security of the systems, it added.
It also states that the Oncology Center is committed to addressing the situation and protecting the personal data of its patients and employees, while its operations continue normally.
