The six-member Synodal Court of the Church of Cyprus unanimously decided to depose Father Dimos Serkelides.
According to a statement issued by the Secretariat of the Six-Member Synodal Court, the Six-Member Synodal Court of the Church of Cyprus, composed of its President, Metropolitan Nektarios of Kition, its members, Metropolitans Athanasios of Limassol, Tamasos Isaios, Trimythoustonus Barnabas, Bishops Christophoros of Karpasia and Arsinoe Pangratiou, following the referral before it of the case of Fr. Dimos Serkelides, a cleric of the Holy Metropolis of Paphos, proceeded on Wednesday to hear the case in question at the Small Synodal Court of the Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus.
The Synodal Court, having conducted the Indictment and carefully heard the Speech of the Ecclesiastical Prosecutor and the Apology of the Accused, found him guilty and unanimously decided to depose him from the high ministry of the Priesthood and to reinstate him to the ranks of the laity, "based on the Divine and Sacred Canons of the Orthodox Church and the Provisions of the Statutes of the Church of Cyprus."
