The Water Development Department (WDD) has announced that from Tuesday, February 17, until Thursday, February 19, the supply of drinking water in the Districts of Larnaca, Nicosia and Famagusta will be reduced. The reduction is due to scheduled maintenance works at the Dhekelia Desalination Plant, which are part of the maintenance of its facilities.
The WDD emphasizes in the same announcement that "in collaboration with all the bodies involved, it will make every effort to optimally manage the available quantities of water and to maximize the coverage of the water supply needs of the three provinces."
The public is requested, especially during this period, to limit water use to what is absolutely necessary until the Desalination Plant reopens, while it is noted that the effective use of water will contribute significantly to addressing the water shortage that is plaguing our country.
The public is urged to limit water use to a minimum and avoid any unnecessary consumption. The responsible and prudent use of water contributes substantially to the collective effort to ensure the adequacy of water resources.
"The WDD thanks the public for their understanding and cooperation and apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause."
