Sunshine and high temperatures will prevail in the coming days until Easter Tuesday, Meteorological Officer Andreas Chrysanthou told CNA.
Asked about the weather conditions expected in the coming period, Mr. Chrysanthou said that the weather will be mainly clear without changes, with increased sunshine and temperatures to be particularly high from today, Holy Thursday, until Holy Saturday,
He added that tomorrow, Good Friday, the temperature may exceed 30 degrees in the interior areas, while it will range around 25-56 degrees in the coastal areas and around 20 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
"These are temperatures that exceed the average values of the season and which will remain at these levels on Good Friday and Good Saturday, with a slight drop expected on Easter Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, 2-3 degrees lower than the temperatures of the current three-day period," he noted.
As he said, fine dust will begin to be suspended in the atmosphere starting tomorrow, the concentrations of which, however, will not reach alarming levels and will be limited to the upper layers of the atmosphere.
"Possibly on Easter Sunday, Monday and Tuesday we will see some concentrations on the surface, but low concentrations, thin dust, nothing worrisome," he pointed out.
Asked to comment on the recent temperature fluctuations, Mr. Chrysanthou said that the island is currently being affected by an outbreak of high pressure in the region, in contrast to a "wedge" of low pressure last week.
"It's this weather, it's not something strange, it's the changes we have especially in the Eastern Mediterranean," he further stated.
Finally, regarding the possibility of rainfall, he told CNA that no rainfall is expected until the middle of next week, adding that the forecast for the next few days is expected to provide a more accurate picture for the weekend after next.
