The family is determined to proceed with private criminal prosecutions for Thanasis' murder case, his mother, Andriana Nikolaou, told CNA, adding that these initially concern the seven individuals listed in the report of independent criminal investigators Thanasis Athanasiou and Lambros Pappas.
Asked to comment on today's article in the newspaper "O Phileleftheros", Andriana Nikolaou said that private criminal prosecutions are being prepared by her lawyer Nikos Clerides, but she herself has not been informed about the stage the process is at and that "a study is needed to do them properly."
"Those who are in the report, the seven, are certain," he said, emphasizing that "not only seven but 107 should be accused." "It's not one or two who contributed to this cover-up, it's all those who continued to make fun of us for 20 years," he said, adding that no one should go unpunished because "they ruined our lives, they killed our child."
He also reiterated the position that he does not trust the Legal Service and added that "no matter how many Attorneys General change - and three have already changed - the files are in the hands of the same lawyers of the Legal Service, who have been fighting us all these years."
He expressed the view that, just as the Council of Ministers changes with each new government, so too, in the case of the Legal Service, its lawyers should change with each new Attorney General "so that they know that they will be checked, if they did their job well, by those who will succeed them."
Regarding the intention of the legal advisors of the coroner Panikos Stavrianos to reopen the death investigation and file a petition for a writ of certiorari, Andriana Nikolaou stated that final decisions of the Supreme Court cannot be overturned and that "all this suffering and the enormous damage caused by the coroner Stavrianos will not remain like this."
When asked about it, she stated that with the delivery of Thanasis' bones, "I felt a little bit of Resurrection, I felt that I and the whole family were relieved, now that the bones were returned, which they had been keeping from us for 4,5 years."
She said, finally, that she feels great support from the people, "whom the Legal Service and all the adults should fear, because the voice of the people, the wrath of God."
