The Larnaca Secondary Education Federation is calling for the construction of new school units to proceed in order to address the very serious problems with overcrowding.
According to a relevant announcement, on Tuesday evening, a broad meeting was held at the Agios Georgios High School with the bodies of the city and province of Larnaca, under the title "We Demand New Modern and Safe Schools".
"The subject of the meeting was the establishment of new school units, the modernization and substantial improvement and upgrading of the existing infrastructure of the schools operating in the city and district of Larnaca," it is added.
It is reported that there was unanimous agreement that "the procedures for building new school units must proceed without delay in order to address the very serious problems with overpopulation."
It is added that there was unanimity regarding the seriousness of the logistical infrastructure problems as well as the urgent need to effectively address them.
At the meeting, it is added, it was decided to establish an initiative group that will undertake the promotion of addressing the above issues.
Present were the Members of Parliament of Larnaca, the Mayors of Larnaca and Aradippou, the Deputy Mayors of Livadia and Oroklini, the President of the Larnaca School Board, the President and Members of the Aradippou School Board, School Principals, OELMEK Larnaca, OLTEK, ETEK, ESEM and Members of the Board of Directors of the Federation.
