Tension still prevails today in the Denia region where farmers who tried to cultivate their fields were prevented yesterday.

The former head of the community, Christakis Panagiotou, in a statement to the KYPE, said that around seven in the morning, Turkish soldiers with 4-5 vehicles and Turkish farmers went to the dead zone at the time when Greek farmers were going to cultivate their fields, as they do recently 15 years.

"Right now the United Nations is there and talking to the occupying authorities and we expect an answer around noon from the Oyedes about what will happen, that's what they told us," said Mr. Panagiotou.

According to Mr. Panagiotou, these are fields of approximately 150 decares which have been cultivated for 15 years with European subsidies, through KOAP, "and now the Turks are coming and claiming them".

He said that the police and the army are in the area and that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was also informed about the incident.
