The first meeting of the new Chief of Police, Mr. Themistos Arnaoutis and the new Deputy Chief of Police, Mr. Panikos Stavros, with the Police Directors/Commanders of all Police Directorates throughout Cyprus took place today at the Cyprus Police Academy.
The Chief of Police, in the context of the meeting, focused on three pillars of the strategy he will follow during his Chiefship:
As for the first pillar, it focuses on the Vision and Priorities of the Police, which will lead to continuous improvement of the Police, at all levels, will increase the trust of the public and the pride of the members of the Police. This goal, as he noted, will be achieved through the tripartite: Interest-Communication and Trust, as interrelated and integral elements for the smooth operation of the Police.
Then, he referred to the second pillar concerning Discipline, both in terms of the image and appearance of the police officer, who is a model, but also in terms of the investigation of serious cases with an emphasis on: (1) corruption, (2) the organized crime including drugs and (3) violence in stadiums.
Finally, the new Chief of Police referred to the third and very important part, which concerns the reorganization within the Police Force, in which careful and considered steps should be taken, with the cooperation and participation of all, since it will also determine the successful future course of Cyprus Police, at all levels.
The new Deputy Chief of Police, for his part, referred to the common fight carried out by all members of the Police in order to fight corruption, organized crime, drugs and violence in the stadiums. He emphasized that in order to achieve the goals there should be close cooperation from everyone. At the same time, he focused on raising the morale of the staff, which will only be achieved if the superiors are next to and close to each and every police officer so that proper guidance is given. A fact that will bring, as he underlined, a positive result for the Service itself, but also high levels of satisfaction in the problems and requests of our fellow citizens.
