The Council of Ministers decided on Wednesday the financial support for the repair or replacement of the solar water heaters in the houses where the trapped and resettled in the occupied villages live, announced the Government Spokesman, Konstantinos Letympiotis, stating that the aim is to improve the quality of life and their daily life.
The total cost is expected to rise to €360.000 and in particular, it was found that the amount of approximately €1200 will be required for each solar water heater replacement and it concerns approximately 300 properties out of the 420 families, he said.
In his statements after the session of the Council of Ministers, the Spokesperson said "the improvement and upgrading of the living conditions of the trapped and resettled people who live in our occupied villages is a key goal of government policy".
"In this context, after all, Plans are being drawn up and operating to provide financial assistance to this category of our fellow human beings, who keep our occupied villages alive, for repair, expansion, renovation or even the construction of houses for their own residence in the occupied villages", he added .
He noted that in this context "it was deemed imperative to repair or replace the solar water heaters in the houses of the trapped and resettled people, since most of them are more than 50 years old and over the years minor repairs were made".
"The Council of Ministers today announces this action to improve the quality of life and daily life of the trapped and resettled, providing financial support for the cost of repairing or replacing the water heaters of the homes they live in in the occupied villages," said Mr. Letymiotis.
Beneficiaries will be all the stranded and resettled people whose solar water heaters in the houses they live in "present real problems and need to be replaced". The necessity of replacing the solar water heaters will be confirmed by the relevant Community Leaders, the Spokesperson said.
The applications will be submitted to the Humanitarian Affairs Service of the Presidency, after first being signed and sealed by the relevant Leader of the Community, he said, noting that the time period for the implementation of the project in question is one year from the date of approval of this proposal.
The total cost is expected to rise to €360.000, which was calculated in collaboration with the community leaders of the occupied villages where the trapped and resettled people live, he said, adding that the amount in question also includes solar water heaters for buildings, which operate for public benefit purposes in under reference occupied villages.
The Council of Ministers authorized the Head of Humanitarian Affairs of Missing and Imprisoned Persons to have the supervision and coordination of the entire process for the implementation of the decision, concluded the Spokesperson.
