Statement by the Famagusta MP Mr. Onoufrios Koullas on agriculture:
"We have achieved a major reform in the management of damage to agricultural production from extreme weather events. We are satisfied with the implementation of the new plan and this reform so far. Damages that have unfortunately occurred to agricultural products, have already been assessed, compensation has already been paid, advances have already been paid in several cases. In total, the state within 2020 will have to pay with the damages invested so far around 17 million. It is possible and this shows the implementation of the plan at the moment, to be able to further improve this plan so that within a reasonable period of time for example four months, an advance can be paid to farmers to meet their immediate needs and the no later than 12 months from the occurrence of the negative event to be paid the remaining amount after it is now accurately estimated ".
