According to the President of the Federation of Associations of Owners of Leisure Centers (OSIKA), Neophytos Thrasyvoulos, the attendance at the catering and entertainment centers fluctuated at 90%.
In his statements to KYPE, Mr. Thrasyvoulos stated that August was a good month, noting, however, that there are areas such as Polis Chrysochous, where there was not the expected traffic on weekdays. However, in August the attendance at the leisure centers was satisfactory due to the traffic of local visitors, he said.
Subsequently, Mr. Thrasyvoulos also referred to the increase in flights during the months of September and October, and noted that these will be a "stimulating injection" for the increased traffic in restaurants and in general in leisure centers.
He also expressed the hope that the increased traffic will continue until November 15, when several recreation centers suspend their operations for the winter season.
He also referred to the necessity of expanding the tourist season, which will have multiple benefits for the tourism industry.
Regarding September, the President of OSIKA emphasized that the entrepreneurs active in the food industry are satisfied so far.
In addition to local and British visitors, he said that the leisure centers of Cyprus also received visitors from other markets, such as France and Poland.
The President of OSIKA noted that the Federation is in constant contact with the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, and that efforts are being made to increase tourism despite the situation in the region, as well as the influx of tourists to the occupied areas.
He also announced that intensive contacts with the competent Ministries to provide assistance to entrepreneurs will begin in October.
