The lifer Doros Theofanous admitted the escape but not the conspiracy with his 26-year-old alleged accomplice, while the 26-year-old did not admit the charge of assisting the lifer, during today's hearing before the Permanent Criminal Court sitting in Paphos, with the Court setting the 14th February, 2025 to continue the process.
The two defendants appeared today in the Permanent Criminal Court under draconian security measures to answer the charges they face.
The 42-year-old lifer admitted to the charge of escaping from lawful arrest but pleaded not guilty to the charge of conspiracy to commit a felony.
The 26-year-old answered that he did not admit to the crime of assisting the escape of a person who was in legal custody and admitted to the crime of disobeying legal orders, that is, that he came into contact with him.
The Court fixed the continuation of the proceedings for the purpose of hearing on February 14, 2025. As stated in the Court, the two are accused that between an unknown date and September 26, they conspired to commit a felony.
It is noted that the representative of the Prosecuting Authority requested that the 42-year-old and the 26-year-old remain in custody. The lawyers of 42-year-old Alexandros Alexandrou, Savvas Matsa and Eleni Alexandrou and 26-year-old Ilias Satolias did not raise tension and the Court ordered that both remain in custody.
