The 48-hour strike on July 2 and 3 is a one-way street, the responsibility of the "insolent" attitude of the Board of Directors of the O.K.Y.P.Y. and no compromise will be made, no tolerance and no suspension, say PASYKI and PASYDY in a joint statement.
They report that the Directorate of the Office of the Attorney General in a "provocative" letter dated 25.6.2024 chose to clash with the Public Sector Doctors and the suffering of the patients.
PASYKI and PASYDY condemn the "arrogant" attitude of the Board of Directors and the Executive Directorate of the OKY. who proceeded to "an unprecedented display of authoritarianism".
"While the Unions well-intentionedly postponed the planned 24-hour work stoppage pending the promised revised proposal from the O.K.Y.Y., instead a letter was sent that repeats exactly the same," it added.
The unions blame the Board of Directors. of the Agency for "misguided and harmful" agreements to the detriment of Public Hospitals, misleading the House of Representatives through the submitted Budget and the Parliamentary Parties regarding the Financial viability of the Agency. Their predictions, it is noted, do not meet the reality of this and strongly avoid concluding a new stimulus agreement based on realistic data.
They also accuse the OKYPY Board of refusing to discuss and adjust the Incentive Agreement based on actual income as requested by the Unions from March 2023 and of deliberately delaying and avoiding the conclusion of a new Agreement for the period 2024-2026 foreshadowing another inevitable conflict 1 year.
They further state that there was "no attempt to correct the Organization's operational problems and no business planning, covering up behind the alleged business secrecy when in reality there is no rescue plan".
PASYKI and PASYDY refer to a selective, piecemeal and, as it were, application of the Agreements, opacity regarding the agreements with OAU and the State concerning the revenues of the Organization and which affect the future of thousands of employees.
They speak of "intentional fueling of the conflict between the administration of OK.Y.P.Y. and Guilds of Public Doctors to disorient public opinion". "We all experienced the same scenario before the closure of Parastatals and Banks when the boards were looking for scapegoats," it says.
They also speak of disrespect towards the Doctors who are the productive and consequently revenue-generating power of the Organization through which they are allowed "to hire people unrelated to the Directorate of Health Services in managerial positions".
"We are surprised by the complete absence of the Government and we wonder if it tolerates or even approves the problematic tactics of the Board of Directors it has appointed. We request the immediate removal of those responsible for the above from the Council of the Organization", the announcement concludes.
