Actions are being taken by the Republic of Cyprus to release as soon as possible a Greek Cypriot, who is being illegally detained in the occupied territories for alleged "violation of a prohibited military zone", as reported by CNA.
The Greek Cypriot, who was collecting wild herbs near the buffer zone in the Gerolakko area, has been "detained" since Tuesday, while steps are being taken by the Republic of Cyprus to release him as soon as possible, according to information from CNA.
According to reports in the occupied territories, the “arrested person” was initially brought before a “military court” for entering the “military zone” and then to a “court” in occupied Nicosia on charges of “illegal transportation and possession of explosives.” It is reported that 16 hunting cartridges (12 caliber) were found in his vehicle, which came from the free areas.
The "police" requested his "detention" as a guarantee for his future appearance in "court" and ordered the man's "pre-trial detention" in the "central prisons" in the occupied territories for a period not exceeding four days, until the investigation is completed.
