The Civil Defense Force announces that, following a Decision of the Council of Ministers, in accordance with the Civil Defense (General) Regulations 1997 and a related Notification of the Minister of the Interior, all female civilians have been called for registration and classification for two years' service in the Force of the Republic who were born in the year 2002 and all male citizens of the Republic who were born in the year 1970, and reside in the territorial areas of the Republic.
The registration and classification of the obligees will be done at the Offices of the Regional Civil Defense Directorates (PEDPA) by Province, at the local Civil Defense Stations / Civil Defense Substations or at the Offices of the Community Councils, depending on their place of residence.
Registration starts from Monday, October 21, 2024, to Friday, October 25, 2024, for female citizens and from Monday, November 18, 2024, to Friday, November 22, 2024, for male citizens, during the following hours:
All those who will come for registration and classification, should bring with them a Political Identity Card.
The following are excluded from the obligation to serve in the Force:
The members of the Council of Ministers, the members of the House of Representatives, the Judges, the members of the Public Service Commission, the members of the Education Service Commission, the Directors General in the Council of Ministers, the Director General of the House of Representatives, the Directors or Heads of Government departments or other government services, the Directors of Public Law Organizations and the members of the Central Council and the District Councils of Civil Defense.
The clergy.
Those serving on a permanent basis in the Civil Defense Force, the Cyprus Army, the National Guard, the Police, the Fire Service or in prisons.
Those who serve in the National Guard, those who served in the National Guard and belong to classes of the National Guard that have not been dismissed from its reserve and those who, due to special qualifications, are in any way included in the reserve or in other units of the National Guard Guard, except for the persons to whom special reference is made in the National Guard legislation or to whom, by virtue of the National Guard legislation, an exemption or suspension from the obligation to serve in the National Guard has been granted.
The persons who serve in a service, which was declared an "Essential Service" based on the provisions of article 6 of the Law and who are designated for the implementation of the civil defense plan of the Service in question, who have been assigned responsibilities and obligations, according to the Regulations, to deal with the effects of hostile actions.
It is clarified that all those who belong to the above groups must come normally for registration, presenting the necessary supporting documents and then an exemption from the obligation to serve in the Force will be granted to those who meet the criteria.
