50% of the hotels of various categories in all the provinces are open this season and have rich programs for the Christmas and New Year holidays, the President of the All Cyprus Hoteliers Association (ASYXE) Thanos Michaelidis told KYPE, adding that this year's percentage of of hotels in operation is at the same level as last year.
Mr. Michaelidis said that most of the hotels that remain in operation, noted Mr. Michaelidis, is in Larnaca and Paphos and that there are always special prices for Cypriot visitors.
Asked Mr. Michaelidis said that the foreign guests staying in the hotels during this period come from the United Kingdom, Germany and Poland, while during the Christmas and New Year holidays there is, as he said, interest from Cypriots as usual.
He pointed out that the Cypriots are interested in the dates 24, 25, 26, 31 December and 1 January.
Regarding the problems faced by hotels, Mr. Michaelidis noted that the challenges have been constant in the last year, with the geopolitical developments taking place in the region, expressing the hope that with the new year the tension in the region will decrease.
He also pointed out that this will help tourism to Cyprus and to the Middle East in general.
He also said that with the new year, it is hoped that the structure of finding and employing labor force from abroad will be easier and with flexible procedures so that the hotels can be staffed earlier and better and provide the level of services that our markets expect .
