Products with hazardous substances detected on the European market

Products containing hazardous chemicals, which are considered to pose risks to workers and consumers, have been identified on the European market and are being published on Thursday by the Labor Inspection Department (TEE) of the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance.

The TEE clarifies that the relevant information has been registered in the European Union's Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products (RAPEX).

The information refers to a screwdriver set, brand name "Miniature screwdriver set" and code 628368. The product is manufactured in Chile, was found on the Finnish market and contains the substance bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), which is toxic to reproduction, in a percentage greater than the maximum limit permitted by law, which is 0,1% by weight.

In addition, hazardous chemicals are included in the sealants for bathrooms and kitchens, branded "Axton – Cuisine & Salle de bain Acétique Blanc / Clair" with codes 3276007781830, 3276007781847, 3276007782271, 3276007782288, 3276007782691 and 3276007782820 and "Axton – Cuisine & Salle de bain Neutre Silicon Sealant Blanc / Clair" with codes 3276007781342, 3276007781601, 3276007782660 and 3276007782684. The products are Italian-made, sold online and were found on the French market. They do not comply with the provisions of the legislation, as they do not bear the required labeling.

Moreover, the sealant for windows and doors, branded "Axton – Fenêtres & Portes Neutre Silicon Sealant Blanc / Clair" with codes 3276007782752 and 3276007782851, also made in Italy, which is sold online and was found on the French market, does not comply with the provisions of the legislation as it does not bear the required labeling.

The product for cleaning swimming pool water, branded "Age de l'eau – Oxygène actif, oxydant choc" with code 45468, 50677-1, 65446, American-made, which was found on the French market, does not comply with the provisions of the legislation as it does not have the required safety cap.

Leather shoes, brand name "Semler – Semler Sandale Hanna" with code FA 132539, 827, made in Italy, a product found on the German market is also included in the list, as the leather part of the product contains a high concentration of Chromium (VI). Chromium (VI) is a sensitizing substance and can cause allergic reactions.

A tablecloth, branded "FOLMAX – Obrus ​​PVC", made in China, is being sold online and has been found on the Polish market. According to the announcement, it contains the reproductively toxic substance bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), in a percentage greater than the maximum limit permitted by law, which is 0,1% by weight.

Also, Chinese-made phone case decorations, branded "DRMZ - Donut", sold online, were found on the Finnish market and contain the reproductively toxic substance bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), in a percentage greater than the maximum limit permitted by law, which is 0,1% by weight.

The decorative brooch, brand name "TATUUM – SPINO" and code T2530.605B-760-000, made in China, found on the Polish market, earrings, brand name "MISSOMA", made in Thailand, sold online and found on the Northern Ireland market, and a set of earrings, brand name "My nanu" and code 192-084K, contain Cadmium, in a percentage greater than the maximum limit permitted by law and can cause kidney damage, bones and cancer.

Furthermore, a bracelet, branded "Vanessa Baroni – Flat Bracelet granite marble" with code VB2011GMA, made in Italy, sold online, was found on the German market and contained nickel (a substance that is a strong sensitizer and can cause allergic reactions) in a percentage greater than the maximum limit permitted by law.

The Labor Inspection Department calls on citizens, in case they locate the above products on the Cypriot market, to inform the competent Officers of the Labor Inspection Department on telephone numbers 22405637, 22405611, 22405609 and 22405635.
