PSEM sent a letter to the Minister of Education, Athena Michaelidou, speaking about complaints from students to PSEM regarding the degree of difficulty and the length of many final exams in various grades of the Lyceum.
The letter as it is
Honorable Minister,
Complaints have been made to the PSEM by students regarding the degree of difficulty and length of many final exams in various grades of the Lyceum. This fact is of particular concern to us in view of the Pancyprian Exams.
We remind you that last year's Pancyprian exam papers for Mathematics and Chemistry were of unprecedented difficulty and quite justifiably provoked reactions from students, parents and teachers.
Taking into account the above, we record the complaints so far as follows:
• Modern Greek 1st and 3rd year of high school
• History of the 3rd High School Direction
• Mathematics for the 3rd year of high school.
We remain at your disposal for further clarifications and request that the Ministry immediately handle the examiners in the correct manner so that they prepare papers that ensure a reasonable difficulty but will not exhaust the students being examined.
We await the Ministry's written response regarding the complaints and the measures that will be taken for the Entrance Exams.
On behalf of the PSEM Secretariat
Georgia Grigoriou
Chairman
