The Department of Geological Survey of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that on Thursday 05 December 2024 and 22:53 local time, a noticeable earthquake of magnitude 3.9 on the Richter scale was recorded by the seismological network of the Department.
The earthquake had an epicenter in the sea area, 45 kilometers southeast of the city of Larnaca, and a focal depth of 20 kilometers. It was felt in the province of Larnaca and perceived in the rest of Cyprus.
The phenomenon is monitored by the Seismological Center of the Geological Survey Department and the relevant information (seismic parameters, interactive maps, etc.) is published on the website of the Geological Survey Department www.gsd-seismology.org.cy.
