The newly recruited soldier, who felt unwell on Friday 12/06 in the morning and was hospitalized in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Nicosia General Hospital, is leaving for France today.
Regarding the state of health of the newly recruited soldier, who has been hospitalized since July 12, 2024 in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Nicosia General Hospital, the Ministry of Defense informs that the treating doctors and the Ministry of Health have decided to immediately airlift the patient to a specialized center in France.
In his statements to KYPE, the press officer of the Ministry of Health, Dimitris Constantinou, said that the aircraft was expected to depart last night, however, he noted that the plane had completed the number of flights it could make within 24 hours and that is why the departure was moved to today Monday.
According to Dimitris Konstantinou, the aircraft arrived in Cyprus after 22:00, with the team going to Nicosia General Hospital, in order to examine the 17-year-old.
Mr. Constantinou said that today the necessary procedures are being carried out to transport the 17-year-old safely to Larnaca airport, from where he is expected to depart for France.
When asked what is the state of the young man's health, Mr. Constantinou said that at the moment they cannot say anything, adding that they will await the opinion of the team of doctors and other scientists who will receive him in France.
It is noted that the 17-year-old enlisted a few days ago in the National Guard as a commando and after the morning exercise on July 12, he lost consciousness.
He was admitted to the Larnaca General Hospital and subsequently it was deemed necessary to transfer him to the ICU of the Nicosia General Hospital, where he remains intubated.
