The 42-year-old lifer Doros Theofanous, who was arrested yesterday in Limassol after escaping from a legal permit, has been in the Central Prisons since Monday morning.

Earlier today, the decision was made not to carry out the arrest procedure before the Paphos District Court since the 42-year-old is serving a prison sentence.

Just before 11 a.m. heavy traffic began to be observed at the entrance of the Central Prisons, where patrol cars and police vans had arrived.

About twenty minutes later, and while participants in a spontaneous protest by prison guards in favor of the Deputy Director of Prisons Haris Filippidis, who is expected to be replaced by Konstantinos Konstantinidis, had already begun to gather in the area, a car in which the re-arrested lifer was riding passed at high speed, accompanied by police officers and another police car.

During the arrival of the prisoner, a police helicopter hovered over the area.
