At 67% of normal rainfall until the morning of September 4th

In the last 24 hours, a total of only 17 millimeters of water was recorded by the 0,2 stations of the free Cyprus

Rainfall in the free areas rose to 67% of normal since the first of the month, amid extremely low capacity of the dams in free Cyprus due to the drought that plagues the island.

Moreover, according to today's data from the Department of Meteorology (up to 09:00), the rainfall since October 1, 2023 (start of the hydrological year) is at 71% of the normal amount.

In particular, in the last 24 hours, the 17 stations of free Cyprus recorded a total of only 0,2 millimeters of water, with the total amount since the first of the month amounting to 3 millimeters, an amount that corresponds to 67% of the normal amount based on historical data for the period 1961 to 1990.

The highest percentages for the rainfall since the first of the month were recorded at the station of Athienou with 229% of the normal for the month, in Lithrodonda with 75% and in Frenaros with 67%. At the rest of the stations the percentages are very low, while at many stations the rainfall is at zero.
