The Cyprus Police, as every year, during the festive period of Easter and Resurrection, will take increased road safety measures, with the aim of protecting citizens traveling on the road network.
Due to the expected increased traffic during the holiday period, between Maundy Thursday and Easter Monday, April 17-21, the presence of the Police on the main roads of the cities, on intercity roads and on motorways, will be intense, with Police personnel working continuously with increased patrols, traffic regulation, and traffic checks, to prevent road traffic collisions and increase safety on the road network.
During traffic police checks, as always, zero tolerance will be shown for violations that constitute the main causes of serious and fatal traffic collisions, such as exceeding the speed limit, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, failure to use seat belts by drivers and passengers of cars and protective helmets by motorcyclists, distraction by using a mobile phone or other object while driving, and dangerous overtaking.
The Police recommends that drivers be careful when driving, observe the Highway Code and comply with traffic signs and the instructions of police officers on duty.
