The very small number of products contained in e-kalathi significantly limits consumer choice, reports the Cyprus Consumers Association.
In an announcement regarding the Cyprus Consumers Association's observatory on e-kalathi, it is stated that there are large supermarkets with nationwide store coverage whose total number of products contained in e-kalathi is extremely low and does not meet consumer expectations.
“The very small number of products contained in e-kalathi significantly limits consumer choice,” it adds.
In December, the announcement states, price differentiation between the same stores of the same supermarket continued in some supermarkets. This differentiation, it is noted, did not exist until August 2025 and may be due to the more intense competition of supermarkets in some specific areas.
Furthermore, it is noted that there is a continuous and noticeable decrease in the percentage difference in the total cost of common products between the supermarket with the highest total cost and the supermarket with the lowest total cost.
Specifically, in July 2025 the percentage was 13%, in August 11,7%, in September 9,3%, in October 6%, in November 5,8% and in December 4,6%, he concludes.
