The Minister of Health, Michalis Damianos, is continuing his efforts in order to lift the 48-hour strike, announced by public doctors, on July 2-3.
The Minister of Health has called a meeting at 8.30am between the parties to discuss lifting the impasse.
As the Cyprus News Agency reported earlier, in relation to the contacts to avoid the strike, Mr. Damianos has "continuous and intensive" telephone contacts from Friday until today.
The public doctors announced a 48-hour strike on July 2 and 3 as, as reported by their unions, their demands were not met by the proposal made to them by the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY) on the issue of payment of doctors' accrued wages, which derive from the incentive agreement.
To reflect on the consequences of a strike in the sensitive health sector, the Minister of Health invited all those involved, with his post, on Saturday, on his personal account on the "X" platform, expressing the hope that the strike will be avoided.
He also called on them to show cooperation, responsibility and understanding in order to reach as soon as possible an agreement that will benefit everyone.
The Ministry of Finance, in its announcement, noted that strike mobilizations cannot and should not constitute either the solution or the answer to the problems, and requested that any demands of the workers range within the financial capabilities of OKYpY.
