An 18-year-old girl is dead in a fatal road collision that occurred around 7:20 on Wednesday night on Artemis Avenue in Larnaca, an 18-year-old man has been arrested and two people, one of them a minor, are wanted by the police. All the young people involved in the tragic accident are foreigners.
The prosecuting authorities are continuing the investigations surrounding the circumstances of the accident with the victim Giulia Mihaela Vasile, 18 years old, from Romania, a resident of Cyprus. In relation to the road collision, the driver and passenger of the vehicle in which the 18-year-old was riding are wanted, who, after the fatal collision, left the scene and ran away. The collision occurred, under circumstances that are being investigated, when the vehicle in which the above were traveling veered off its course and moved onto the pavement. On the sidewalk, the vehicle struck a traffic sign and then a tree, coming to rest in a second tree on the sidewalk.
When members of the Police arrived at the scene, it was found that the 16-year-old driver and the 20-year-old passenger of the vehicle had left the scene, while the unfortunate 18-year-old and an 18-year-old were in the vehicle as passengers in the back seats. The two were taken by ambulance to Larnaca General Hospital, where the 18-year-old was pronounced dead. The 18-year-old received treatment and was discharged.
It should be noted that the fatal vehicle was declared stolen by its owner around 13:30 pm on Wednesday and in this regard the 18-year-old was arrested and will be brought before a court where the Police will request his detention for investigation purposes case of theft.
As for the other two persons, they are wanted by the authorities, while the circumstances under which the road collision occurred are being investigated by the Larnaca Traffic Department.
