The Department of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment proceeded with the sending of a guide to over 25 thousand farmers, with recommendations and good practical applications, aimed at saving and rationally using water during irrigation.
This initiative, as stated in a statement by the Department of Agriculture, "aims to inform and support farmers, through the promotion of responsible practices that contribute to sustainable agricultural production and the proper management of water resources, in the face of the challenges caused by the reduced availability of water for irrigation purposes."
He reports that the guide, which has been sent electronically to more than 25 thousand farmers, includes practical advice on how they can manage their farms, implementing, among other things, the use of high-efficiency irrigation systems, measures to limit evaporation, regular inspection and maintenance of irrigation equipment to limit water losses, and the collection and utilization of rainwater, where and where possible.
According to the Department of Agriculture, this action is part of the ongoing efforts to enhance the efficient use of water in agricultural production, through information, technical guidance and support for farmers from the competent Departments.
