In an ex officio investigation or in an investigation following complaints of each case, where there is a suspicion of a violation of the specifications of the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Halloumi/Halloumi/Hellim, including the illegal distribution in member states of the European Union (EU) of products that have not been produced in Cyprus, the Department of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment is proceeding.
Among other actions, according to an announcement by the Department of Agriculture, "EE's iRASSF system is also used to take measures by the respective Competent Authorities, where non-compliance is observed".
"In a recent relevant seminar of the European Commission, it was mentioned that Cyprus is in the third place of registration of complaints through iRASSF, after Italy and Germany", the announcement states.
The Department of Agriculture states that any complaints about violation of PDO Halloumi/Halloumi/ Hellim specifications should be submitted to the email address ~~director@da.moa.gov.cy or ~~qualityproducts@da.moa.gov.cy
