The message that all children deserve equal opportunities in learning was sent by the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Athina Michailidou, as part of her tour of the schools in the rural area of Kato Pyrgos Tellyria.
Today, the first day of the start of classes, he said, "for the children in kindergartens and primary schools, we decided to be here at the regional primary school of Tellyrias in Pyrgos to give the message that we support our critical schools and critical areas".
The Minister of Education mentioned that they have done a lot lately especially regarding the transition to the most modern school and these results, she continued, "must be seen especially in the small schools where too many exemptions are given to be able to stay alive", she added .
Especially in this community, said Ms. Michailidou, we are ready for the Ministry of Education and more broadly the Government to support so that the school stays alive in an uncritical area.
He noted that they are in the area to "discuss all that we have done in the past time" but also everything else they can do to support the requests of the residents, to be able to keep the school alive and to increase the number of children and of teachers.
Our goal, said the Minister of Education, is to improve the projects and infrastructure in Tellyria more broadly.
She noted that her visit is an excellent opportunity to be next to the people to hear first-hand their problems and suggestions, but also to show in practice the Government's interest in this region.
When asked about it, she said that the residents want equal opportunities for young couples to decide to stay in the area, have children and have a school similar to all other schools in large areas.
As he explained, the goal of the Ministry is to enable the children to study normally, to pass exams and have a future in both high school and high school.
Thus, he said, so that "a Department with one child can function", noting that "this normally cannot be done under the legislation".
They also, he said, give opportunities "for older children to observe their teachers in their lessons in a one-on-one tutoring style".
The most important thing for us is that we support the school through other structures, he added. He mentioned that, for example, "an educational psychologist, instead of coming every 6 months, is here on a much more frequent basis".
He also referred to the support of the teachers that is constantly provided through the inspector, noting that there is a contact person on a daily basis, but also many other pedagogical actions that keep the school alive and have shown good results.
Asked about the issue of blocking the area and the difficulty of the students going to the tutoring schools, the Minister of Education replied that the issue of the bus is a request that they are aware of, it exists and they are discussing it with other Ministries to find solutions.
The Minister of Education visited the kindergarten and the regional primary school of Kato Pyrgos Tellyria as well as the high school of the area.
